Neil Littlewood, Chief Executive Officer, Royal Wolf

Established in 1995, Royal Wolf Trading is an Australasian domestic container hire, sale and specialised modifications business offering services to consumers, retail and corporate customers. The Royal Wolf network consists of 39 company locations across Australasia with 292 employees.

Royal Wolf’s Wolf Lock container was engineered at the Centre of Technical Excellence facility located at Banyo near Brisbane over a 12-month period.  In 2017, Royal Wolf was granted an innovation patent with the Australian Government and is designed in accordance with the requirements of AS 4100-1998.

The Wolf Lock was launched into the Australasian shipping container market in August 2018 and is designed with an easy to use container door access system that is customer friendly. Containers fitted with the Wolf Lock still provide the same secure, weather and vermin proof storage as conventional containers, but they are easier to open for fast, regular access and can be opened from inside the container in case of accidental door closure. In terms of safety, this is a significant game changer.

The Wolf Lock can be opened with a single motion using light pressure and there is no bending or stress involved. From the inside, the emergency exit handle is fitted with a glow in the dark label so it can be easily located in the event someone is in the container when the door is closed.

With the growth of use of traditional shipping containers into the consumer and retail market as an alternative storage option, standard opening systems do not provide adequate functionality or safety features, particularly addressing Work Health and Safety practices in the workplace.

Since the initial launch of the Wolf Lock, the design has been enhanced to include a rubber handle for easier grip while opening, as well as an expansion of the fleet to include 10ft and 40ft containers to meet the market requirements.
