The primary objective of the company is to reverse the current status quo, which is that 50% of the global population lacks access to basic healthcare, and an estimated 100 million people are pushed into ‘extreme poverty’ due to the costs associated with healthcare expenses. The Swoop Aero Kookaburra aircraft was first commercialised as a product in December 2018, following the commencement of flight operations in Vanuatu. Swoop Aero deployed a network of small autonomous aircraft, which delivered on-demand healthcare supplies quickly; cutting delivery times from 2 days down to 20 minutes. These operations optimised the local health care supply chain, by allowing healthcare workers to deliver care rather than walk the long distances to acquire the resources they needed for their patients. The Swoop Aero network was the first two-way, long-range commercial drone vaccine delivery solution in the world, which provided the first commercially viable drone-delivered vaccine to Baby Joy in the rural village of South River. In Vanuatu, Swoop Aero worked alongside Unicef and the Vanuatu Ministry for Health to establish and expand drone network operations.
